Environmentalism is about doing what we can do to save the environment.
Lucas's story

As I grew up, the idea of being environmentally friendly stuck with me, trying to keep all the paper throughout the school year, and remove all the staples etc. It might seem like a tedious job, but I truly believed that recycling paper can give them another life, allowing them to be used again to their fullest. I believe that this should be what we believe in, to give our used items another life by recycling.
My struggles
There was a time that I did not think recycling was effective in protecting the environment, especially when I found out that the waste produced by us is very, very little compared to the pollution produced by industries, factories etc. I asked myself, “why am I even doing this when industries produce more waste in a few minutes than I do in a year?” I thought it through after some time, and I told myself that if recycling a year’s worth of paper can give the paper made from a few trees another life, then let it be. Although my efforts are insignificant, but a life is a life, no matter if it is a human, or a tree, and we should do our best to save it.
I truly believe that this is the true meaning behind environmentalism, to do what we can do as a student, a child.
